NUTRITIONIST & FOUNDER OF CASAWELL HEALTH

My name is Erica and I am the founder of Casawell Health, LLC. I am a Functional Nutritionist based in New York City and Long Island, available to meet with clients virtually. My education includes a Masters degree in Nutrition, and certifications in Functional Nutrition, Plant-based Nutrition, and 200 hour yoga teacher training.

I reached a pivotal point in my life in my early 20’s when I developed symptoms I had never experienced before, including digestive issues, bloating, IBS, hormonal imbalances, acne, muscle fatigue, unexplained weight gain, rashes, food sensitivities, mood swings, water retention, joint pain, brain fog, anxiety, poor sleep, and night sweats, to name a few. I felt like my body had been taken over, and I had no control over what was happening to me. After seeing more than a dozen specialists and having countless tests, the only solution given to me was to take prescription medications that made me feel worse, and left me with no explanation as to what was causing these symptoms. I was repeatedly told by doctors that these symptoms were “in my head”, leaving me feeling helpless.

After years of struggling and receiving no answers or explanations, I decided to listen to my gut and take a different approach to find the cause of my issues. I began taking a more holistic approach, and with the help of Functional Medicine practices, I was able to get to the root cause of my issues. I finally received answers as to what was causing my symptoms, and was diagnosed with Autoimmune conditions. With major dietary and lifestyle changes, I began to slowly restore my health and regain my life back. I also implemented healing practices into my daily life including acupuncture, energy healing, and lymphatic drainage therapy.

This 7 year journey to reclaim my health completely changed my life and inspired me to help others who cannot find the answers to their health struggles. I now devote my life to clean eating, nutrition, living a clean non-toxic, healthy lifestyle, and helping others to understand the importance of these practices. While completing my yoga teacher training, I was able to experience the power of meditation and functional movement. I learned to use these practices as tools to help deal with stress, witnessing their ability to improve both mental and physical health, together with nutrition.

In combination with my nutrition knowledge, I use my culinary skills to create recipes that help clients heal through the power of food. I cook intuitively and learn by doing. I was always curious about the science and nutritional facts behind the food I was eating, and this interest led me to pursue my M.S. in Nutrition. I now combine my love of food and cooking, as well as living a healthy lifestyle, to help clients eat and live better.

With this philosophy, I encourage my clients to get well for good.
